It’s been a long year, one full of challenges and a few victories, and I can’t say it was at all bad. It certainly wasn’t 2009. I can’t say I’m sorry to see it go, though. 2011 is going to be much more exciting.
So, let’s recap:
- The ALT trailer was completed.
- CreateSpace really sucks.
- Kickstarter saved ALT.
- Probably my best piece of flash fiction.
- The Word Machines features.
- I finally finished THE LIMINAL MAN.
- Officially announcing Precipice Books.
- Holding a hardcover copy of ALT in my hands.
What’s 2011 going to bring? ALT will go on sale sometime next month and will be available in hardcover, trade paperback, and a variety of digital formats. TLM goes to my editor at the end of January as well. We’re aiming for an October publication date. I will also resume work on a collection of new material, tentatively titled THINGS I LEFT BEHIND.
I also have a couple of resolutions which I will no doubt break at some point, but will do my best to maintain: Going for a jog every other day (because working at a desk is not the healthiest thing a person can do), and reading a lot of books. A lot of books. The more independent, the better.
I think that’s it, really. Usually I’m a little cynical whenever I say “There are good things ahead,” but today I really mean it. 2010 was a good year. I intend to make 2011 even better. I’ll make it my own. And so can you. Go make it yours.
Be safe, folks. Catch you next year, sometime.
